Michael was born and raised in New York City. After serving as a police officer for three years with the Fairfax County VA Police Department on patrol, in plain clothes and as a hostage negotiator, he joined the FBI.
A 24 year FBI veteran, Michael investigated crimes ranging from white collar to bank robberies, organized crime, drug trafficking and money laundering. While stationed in New York City, he was the case agent investigating one of the country's largest drug money laundering operations. He rose through the ranks reaching the level of Special Agent in Charge. Michael commanded the investigation of the Red Lake High School Massacre. His professional travels took him to Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
